The Brandarisrace has been held annually since 1994 in October as a spectacular sailing regatta from Harlingen to Terschelling. Originally organized to honor the 400th anniversary of the Brandaris lighthouse, this race has grown into one of the largest events of the Dutch Brown Fleet. With a maximum of 80 participating traditional flat-bottom vessels such as clippers, tjalks and skûtsjes, it has become a true maritime spectacle on the Wadden Sea.
